#Lovestories about Pets

#LoveStories celebrates the good people who make a difference. Tell a story about someone who has made your life a little lighter. Better yet, share that story with them.

Pets are best friends. Pets listen when no one else hears you and they never give bad advice. Pets can decrease your blood pressure. They heal your heart, soul and mind. They can get you outside or keep you warm on a cold day. Bonus, pets are also great conversation starters and date magnets.

Show love for your furry, feathered and scaly friends today. Post a pic and tell us the story.

Share your story. #sharethelove

The Boss

I have had more pets than my fair share. Growing up on a farm, we had dogs, cats, rabbits and a pet goat. Since moving to the city, I have had birds, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, frogs, and so many more. Needless to say, I love animals!

One of my dogs, Boss, was an all black beauty. He was part black lab and part something else that made him tall and lanky rather than stout like many black labs. He was a rescue. Okay, I stole him from someone I knew was hitting him and not feeding him enough. I rescued him. He was what I might call… an unconventional rescue.

I think he always knew that I had rescued him, and he was always trying to show me how much he loved me. He was affectionate, spending all the time he could on my lap, despite his size. He loved to play and hang out with me and my crazy friends. I took him everywhere we went.

One evening, we were walking home. A car slowed down and stopped a few yards ahead of me. I could feel my heart race and my palms get sweaty. Something was wrong. Boss felt it too. He went off on that car like a mad dog. The car idled a few seconds more and whoever was inside decided that it was best to leave than try to do me any harm.

Boss was so proud of himself as the car drove off. He wagged his tail, jumped up and gave me big sloppy kisses. I was also proud of him. He had just rescued me.
