Love stories about colleagues

#LoveStories about Colleagues

#LoveStories celebrates the good people who make a difference. Tell a story about someone who has made your life a little lighter. Better yet, share that story with them.

Today we celebrate colleagues, co-workers, business associates and anyone who makes a difference in our working world. Whether directly or indirectly, they help us pay the bills and support the people we love in so many ways.

A small group of like-minded individuals can change the world. Share a story about your group of like-minded individuals.

Share your story. #sharethelove

Have you ever made a best friend at work? I worked for a cemetery; you read that right, a cemetery. Three women ran the office. We dealt with death everyday while looking after sales contracts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, debt collection (Yeah, I was a debt collector for a cemetery.) and other administration tasks. Oh yes, and customer service which often entailed being with a family as they wept while making a payment on a burial plot for their recently departed loved one. Sometimes they yelled.

The job was an amazing learning experience. I learned more about people than you could imagine. What made the job itself amazing though? The two other women I worked with in the office. It’s no surprise that we became fast friends, we were all empathic with a dry sense of humor and a small bite of sarcastic.

We started having lunch, which became dinner and shopping and hanging out watching the late show. We shared secrets, heartaches, struggles and successes. We stood side by side as one of us buried a brother. Eventually, I moved on as I was young and still wanted to go to university. They supported my efforts to move on and up with my life.
